Workers welfare is top priority: Usamate

More than seven hundred thousand dollars has been recovered from employers identified as not complying to labour laws such as payment for overtime, meal allowances and FNPF deductions.
The Employment Ministry recovered the money from the companies and paid it to the workers who should have received it.
Employment Minister Jone Usamate says effective enforcement of labour law compliance will be ongoing for the Labour Standards Services
Usamate says worker welfare and rights are a priority .
“A total of 3439 labour inspections were conducted from last year into this year .This is part of our proactive work which will continue in the new financial year.”
Labour Standard Services has been allocated a budget of $3.4 million to carry out this work and ensure that decent employment is a reality for Fijians
