The Fiji Corrections Service has recorded a reduction in recidivism rate of 1.5 percent which is equivalent to 27 people as of the end of last month.
Commissioner Francis Kean says this is the lowest in the last decade.
Kean says when compared to the last reporting period, it was 4.78% which is equivalent to 72 people.
He says the reduction has been possible due to the help of various stakeholders that employ former inmates.
“This is a collective for all of us and significant of this stupendous contributions that you’ve made in the mission of the Fijian Corrections Service of restoring lives.”
Kean adds they want the statistics to reduce further to zero.
He mentions this can only be possible if everyone works together.
