Tropical Cyclone Evan is due to pick up its intensity as it approaches Fiji says the Nadi Met Office director Alipate Waqaicelua.
As of this morning, the eye of Cyclone Evan was located some 40 km north east of Apia.
Waqaicelua says the intensity of Cyclone Evans could be damaging provided its intensity.
“At this stage, it’s even expected to develop further into a category 4 as it comes into Fiji.”
The weatherman is now advising the public to put all travelling plans on hold this weekend.
“We would like to inform the public that a very intense and severe cyclone is approaching the country. Fishermen and those thinking of commuting between the islands should now think twice of attempting of going out to sea as it will be very rough.”
