Water carting to outer island continues –Commissioner Western

More than eight hundred thousand liters of water has been carted to the Western Division’s outer islands.

Commissioner Western’s Media Liaison officer, Irami Lewaravu says this is to ensure that essential services continue to be carried out.

Lewaravu says even though it’s their priority to supply water to government stations – they are also assisting villages in need of water due to the current dry spell.

He adds that a barge left for Viwa Island in the Yasawa’s yesterday, while another one will leave for Nacula today.

”All the villagers within the Tikina of Yasawa and Malolo have been requesting water through their provincial office through their Roko Tui’s .We are trying our best to supply water to these villagers with the two vessels available at the Commissioner Western’s office to supply water.”

The two barges that is responsible for carting water to these island are MV Vatulawa and Princess Moana.
