The National Fire Authority is moving ahead in line with the government’s development plans in taking essential services closer to the communities.
Local Government Minister, Parveen Kumar says with the growing population, NFA is investing more so they can respond to the needs of the communities efficiently.
Kumar says the NFA now has more responsibilities.
“They have taken on a broader emergency management role which includes responding to emergency incidents and the provision of emergency ambulance services 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.”
Kumar says two new fire stations are due to be commissioned over the next couple of months in Rakiraki and Nabouwalu.
