The Social Democratic Liberal Party says they will pay for the development costs in new residential areas if they come into power come November 14.
Speaking to party supporters in Narere, SODELPA candidate Anasa Vocea says this is part of their manifesto.
Vocea says the development cost of electricity, water, road and sewerage services to name a few are contributing to the high costs of residential lots.
“The development costs is more than 50% and to buy a lot will be very expensive with the inclusion of these development costs. So we will pay for it and that is in our manifesto. This will enable to reduce the cost of lots for those that wants to buy lots. If we don’t, the prices of lots will still be high.”
Vocea says the old policy used by the Housing Authority sees families paying three times the actual cost of the lot and it is a burden.
The SODELPA candidate says the Housing Policy is adopted from Singapore and needs to be change.
