The Fijian Elections Office has revealed that an error occurred in the polling station at Kese in Yasawa where voters from Marou were also scheduled to vote.

Supervisor Mohammed Saneem says more than a hundred voters would have been affected, therefore in accordance to section 7 of the Electoral Act he had authorized these voters to vote in Kese.

Saneem says with this decision, the elections office intends to ensure that the voter’s right to vote is not compromised and the voters have been permitted to vote at the polling station.

”We are noting it down as one of our first priorities post-election to ensure that those voters who have voted there are immediately transferred to a polling station either we will create a polling station in Marou itself or the Kese polling station will be edited to include all the additional voters.”

Meanwhile, Saneem says there are some delays as the vessels are not able to make it on time due to adverse weather conditions.

He adds due to the delays they’re giving adequate time to registered voters to cast their vote.
