Aspen Medical will now equip, maintain and operate the Ba and Lautoka hospitals.
This after the Fijian government signed the Letter of Award with the Aspen Medical Pty Limited for the Public Private Partnership Agreement for the two hospitals.
Aspen Medical Pty Limited is a global provider of guaranteed, innovative and tailored healthcare solutions for the benefit of people in both developed and developing nations around the world.
They will undertake upgrade of the Lautoka hospital and will bring specialized, high-quality medical services and modern health facilities directly to all Fijians.
Ministry of Economy Permanent Secretary, Makereta Konrote says with this agreement, innovative treatments will be made available in Fiji.
“Under the project agreement the operator is required to introduce its services to Fiji within next three years. By partnering with Aspen Medical Pty Limited we can leverage private sector expertise and investment to improve health care services to all Fijians. The hospitals will remain public and current staff will be retained.”
Konrote says the PPP agreement will also for the first time provide radiotherapy for cancer and the 24/7 availability of cardiac surgery, along with tertiary care, better maternity care and expanded treatment options for NCDs.
