Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is looking forward to what the new Opposition will bring to the House of Representatives.
While the leading Opposition Party – Social Democratic Liberal Party have increased their seat allocation this term by six, having acquired 21 MPs as opposed to 15 in 2014, the Prime Minister dismisses the notion that this will make any difference.
“They’re still in the Opposition, we decide what happens and I don’t know what policies they have put in place for, from their voters for them to bring to Parliament but in the last four years, there’s been nothing, zilch.”
Given the rhetoric between SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka and the Prime Minister during campaigning, it’s any wonder what fireworks await us in the House.
“He’s just a, he’s just a Member of the Opposition. Well it is the continuation of the campaign.”
For now the Prime Minister is turning his focus to selecting his cabinet line-up with the first sitting of Parliament scheduled for early next month.
