The wet and windy conditions currently being experienced in some parts of the country is expected to continue over the next 48 hours.
Acting Director Meteorological Services, Villiame Vereivalu says this is expected given the heavy rain alert that is currently in force.
“Just because of the trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain which lies slow moving to the North of Fiji, so for most of our divisions, we will be experiencing evening showers with thunderstorms and heavy falls in the evening.”
Vereivalu says the forecast from next week is fine weather with cooler nights.
The Director is also advising the general public to be aware of the weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
Under the current heavy rain alert, the public are advised that localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
Residents in flood prone areas need to be vigilant.
