The United People’s Party today announced it is winding up, and will not be re-established.
And the party is urging all its members and supporters to join one of the three political parties SDL, FLP or the NFP.
A statement from the UPP National Executive Committee says, the move is inline with their core belief in promoting multiracial politics in Fiji, a position they refused to compromise following the 1987 coup.
Party leader Mick Beddoes has thanked members and supporters for their loyalty over the years.
Beddoes says, he was humbled to be elected twice to parliament in 2001 and 2006 and he hopes his performance was worthy of his constituents support.
