He may not have had a game at the Rugby League World Cup in England last month but Vodafone Fiji Bati rep Tikiko Noke’s career path could be shaping up.
The 19-year-old has been snatched up by the Newcastle Knights Under 20 squad and he’s expected to leave for Australia in January.
“All our management for the Rugby league World Cup were all from the Knights and they were all from the U20s with Mick Reedy and Graham Perkins so they said I have a chance of going to Newcastle and going to play for the U20s.”
While talks continue, Noke will be kept busy in the gym and tracks.
“First of all they want my level of fitness to be with the boys in the U20s. For now I’ve heard they’re in stage four in training and fitness and for me I’ll be staying for a while in Suva training with Sonny Blake and also with a partner yet to be confirmed.”
Other Fiji Bati reps playing for the NRL Newcastle Knights franchise is Korbin Sims and Akuila Uate.
