Fiji Football Association chief executive Bob Kumar says Labasa needs proper facilities to host an international match.
Responding to posts and comments in social media and letters to the editor column in a newspaper as to why Labasa was not chosen as a venue for Wellington Phoenix’s tour of Fiji, Kumar said a venue should be in top condition and should meet all international standards and requirements.
Kumar says the facilities like referees’ change room, size of the ground, an international standard change room for players are some of the factors to consider before organising international matches and sadly Labasa’s Subrail Park does not have all this facilities available at the moment.
He added that they have been informed about major renovation works at Subrail Park in the coming months and if facilities are upgraded to expected standards then the parent body will surely look at accommodating international matches at the venue.
Fiji FA has already announced Subrail Park as the venue for next year’s Vodafone Fiji FACT.
