The Lelean Memorial School Under 18 rugby team will have to face Nasinu Secondary in a rem-match for a spot in the Deans semi-finals this weekend.

This follows a protest lodged by the Nasinu Secondary U18 team, claiming an LMS player breached competition rules.

The highlighted rule states, that in order for any player to represent their school in rugby, the student must attend that school for no less than 70 days.

The LMS player in question did not fulfil this and school principal, Aisea Rarokoliwa admits they were at fault.

“We have received the judgement from the FSSRU on the appeal by Nasinu Secondary. The decision is to have a re-match, we have spoken to the players. It will be a tough journey compared to previous years so the rematch we are ready to take them on again and decide who will be the better team for the semi.”

The decider between LMS and Nasinu will be played at 2.50pm on Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The FSSRU says only one semi-final will be played this weekend – defending champs, Queen Victoria will take on Assemblies of God High School at 4.10pm.
