Semi Kunatani scored a try after the siren to help the Vodafone Fiji 7s beat Canada 19-17 in their opening pool game in the Hong Kong 7s this morning.

Fiji were on the scoreboard first with a try to Savenaca Racawa in the 2nd minute.

A yellow card to forward, Masivesi Dakuwaqa allowed the Canadians back into the match with two tries to take a 12-5 lead into halftime.

Canada captain, John Moonlight extended his sides lead with another try in the second spell.

Indiscipline crept into the Canadians game as they lost two men to the sin-bin, allowing Fiji to crawl its way back into the game with another try to Rawaca before Kunatani sealed the win with another after the fulltime siren.

In other games, New Zealand edged France 19-17, England beat South Africa 21-14, Australia thumped Argentina 28-0, Wales beat Korea 40-14, USA defeated Portugal 21-5 and Kenya thrashed Samoa 24-0.

Fiji will now face Korea at 4.24pm before meeting Wales in its last pool match at 8.24pm.

The Cup quarter-finals kick off at 2.58pm on Sunday, the Cup semi-finals begin at 7.44pm while the final will be played at 11pm.
