More spots are expected to be allocated to Oceania from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA has decided that the World Cup will be expanded to host 48 teams, up from 32.
OFC Vice-President and Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel says that the current allocation of 0.5 for Oceania could be extended to 1.5 for the 2026 event.
Patel says Oceania had requested for two spots but is highly likely to get 1.5.
The confirmation will be made in the FIFA congress in May in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fiji football team plays New Zealand in the World Cup Stage Three qualifier in March.
