For the first time ever in Fiji, the French Top 14 rugby competition will be shown live on free to air television.
This as the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, has today announced it has secured the rights to show the French Top 14.
T14 as the competition is commonly known, is a major drawcard for Fiji as a number of Flying Fijian internationals are part of it.
FBC Chief Executive, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says it’s the first time the fans will be able to watch their heroes for free from France.
“We will get to pick the best T14 game of the week and we will show it live. This will start in August this year and end in June next year. That the first season and then we have got another season after that.”
FBC TV will be showing a feature match per week with play-offs, semi-finals and finals live.
Meanwhile, FBC TV has also secured the rights to show the ICC Champions Trophy.
FBC TV will be showing the highlights of all the matches with the final live on its platform.
“The games are going to be played at night and the highlights will be the next day at 10.30am and then again at 9.15 that night so the highlights will run twice in the day and this will go on until the finals and it will be live.”
The ICC Champions Trophy begins on June 1.
This announcement goes with the deal signed with the Fiji Rugby Union yesterday, whereby FBC has secured exclusive radio and television rights for the Skipper Cup.
