The Namosi Rugby side has retained the HFC Bank Farebrother Trophy, thumping Rewa 41-29 in the final challenge match at Thompson Park in Navua.
Namosi coach, Josateki Savou, says they came with a game plan which worked out well.
“The message was to keep the ball and don’t play wide because they have got a very fast backline. So in the second half I think the boys capitalized well and they stuck to their game plan.”
Veteran Hooker, Viliame Veikoso, says the win did not come easily.
He says it’s the hard work put in by the coaches and players through-out the season that paid off.
“We have made a lot of sacrifices so we could play 80 minutes and credit goes to the boys the way performed from the start until the end. We are also thankful to the coaches for their hard work with us during the season.”
Rewa coach, Alifereti Doviverata, says they came with confidence but were out played by Namosi in the final match.
“We came into this game, confident of creating an upset but as we saw in the game today, with the possession that they had, we nearly defended for three quarters of the game.”
The local rugby season has come to an end with Nadroga winning the Skipper Cup and Namosi claiming the Farebrother Trophy.
