Tulo bags Fiji’s first gold medals

Fijian weightlifter Manueli Tulo won three gold medals this afternoon in the men’s 56kg.
Tulo lifted a total of 109kg in the snatch and managed to lift 129kg in the clean & jerk with overall of 238kg.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 62kg, Poama Qaqa of Fiji won three silver medals.
Qaqa lifted 110kg in the snatch and lifted 127kg in the clean & jerk with a total of 237.
Morea Baru of Papua New Guinea dominated in the same category bagging three gold medals.
Meanwhile, Fiji women’s weightlifter’s Seruwaia Malani and Arieta Mudunavoce, have raked in our first medals.
Malani won three silvers medals in the 48kg category. She managed a lift of 65kg in the clean and jerk, and 50kg in snatch for a total of 115kg.
Mudunavoce, lifting in the 53kg, won a bronze for her efforts in the clean and jerk (70kg) and finished third overall with a total of 126kg.
Pacific weightlifting queen, Dika Toua, and younger sister Thelma, both of Papua New Guinea, went home with three gold medals each in the two categories.
Meanwhile, Fiji Tennis player Conway Beg lost two sets to one against Samoa in the men’s singles at the at Korman Tennis Centre.
In the women’s single, Vienna Kumar lost her game with two straight sets against the Solomon Islands while Ruby Coffin did not manage to finish her game due to the unfavorable weather.
In table tennis, the Fiji Women’s table tennis team continued their unbeaten run after defeating Tuvalu 5-0 at Day Two of the competition.
They beat Tuvalu yesterday 5-0.
In the men’s division, Fiji defeated Tuvalu 5-0.
The table tennis competition continues tomorrow to determine the playoffs.
