Sensational Cikamatana breaks record

Team Fiji weightlifter, Eileen Cikamatana, has broken her Commonwealth and Oceania Games record at the Mini Pacific Games in Vanuatu.

She lifted 105kg snatch and 143kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 248kg and walked away with three gold medals.

Her previous record stood at 243kg, which was set in Australia during the Commonwealth and Oceania Championships in September.

The 17-year-old, was in a class of her own living behind her other competitors.

In the Snatch, Papua New Guinea lifter, Lorraine Harry, lifted 84kg, while Samoa’s Lesila Fiapule managed 76kg.

In the Clean and Jerk, Harry managed 107kg, while Fiapule was on 97kg.
Cikamatana’s gold medal win follows that of Manueli Tulo, Apolonia Vaivai.
