Koro Island High School made a comeback at the Maritime Zone meet after two years since the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Winston on the island.
Field Event Coach Josefa Taukeve says the school was motivated by the Coca Cola Games torch relay that graced the island late last month.
“We just managed to pull through because of the torch relay first time they came to Koro and we managed to pull through ten students to represent the school in the Coke Games this year.”
A total of ten athletes represented the school which they are currently competing in the Maritime Zone at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
The school won a gold and a bronze medal in their last outing at the 2015 Coke Games.
Meanwhile, more than fifty athletes from Rotuma High, Adi Moapa, Gau Secondary, Ratu Finau Secondary, Cica Secondary, Koro High School, Yasawa North and Yasayasa Moala College are part of the zone meet.
