Maritime athletes in top form

April 16, 2018 5:41 pm

Despite the less number of athletes competing in the Maritime Zone competition yesterday, the competition was hailed as a success by organizers, who say bigger schools should be wary of a few maritime athletes this weekend.

Zone Coordinator, Biu Colati says maritime athletes proved they have what is needed to face dominant schools in the games.

“I think they have some quality individuals and that should be a good indication as far as the zone meet is concerned. We would like to grab some medal and take with us back to the islands and that’s the whole idea of having this meet.”

Meanwhile, the Yasawa North team was crowned the champion in the Boy’s division.

Yasawa bagged seven gold, six silver and eight bronze medals followed by Gau Secondary School with seven gold, four silver and four bronze while Ratu Finau College finished in third place with five gold, four silver and four bronze.

In the Girl’s division, Cicia Secondary School won by seven gold and three silver.

Gau Secondary in second place with seven gold and two silver while Yasawa North rounds up top three with six gold, three silver and one bronze medal.
