The Fiji Government has pledged its commitment to hosting the Oceania 7s for three years commencing last year.

While welcoming the Coaches and Captains of the 21 teams in Suva for this weekend’s championship during a cocktail reception at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night, Minister for Sports Laisenia Tuitubou says this a true reflection of the commitment of the government to develop sports in the country and in the region.

“This with support from Oceania Rugby, whose commitment, dedication and work done behind the scenes continuous to make this event happen and happen successfully. Sport signifies renewal, as well as change.”

Meanwhile, the Oceania 7s kicks off tomorrow and the Fiji Airways men’s 7s side faces Solomon Islands in its first pool match at 4.57pm before taking on Papua New Guinea at 8.06pm at the Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
