Fiji Airways mens 7s coach Gareth Baber will name either Amenoni Nasilasila or Beniamino Vota as the 13th player meaning he will retain all his core players for the Cape Town tournament which starts tomorrow.

Both players were handed three match suspension after dangerous tackle in Dubai hence have missed a match already against South Africa in the fifth place final.

Baber says it is sad to go with eleven players in the first two games and they’re making sure that this will not be repeated.

“I will put one of them as a 13 player and I don’t want to go in a tournament with two players down and I’ll be making sure that we got and we’re making sure that we going with 11 players with the first two games and then get them back in the third game.”

He says he was disappointed with the level of commitment by the players during the Dubai 7s.

“They have a good structure of their game and we always aware we try a different brand of sevens with other teams and I was pissed at our attacking abilities and not create pressure on our opposition when we have the ball.”
Fiji last won a title in South Africa in 2005 when they defeated Argentina 21-19.”

Meanwhile, The Fiji Airways mens 7s side plays France in its first match at 9.59pm on Saturday, then faces Kenya at 1.20am on Sunday before playing England in its final pool match 5.03am.

The Cup quarter-final begins at 11.04pm on Sunday, semi-final will be held at 3.56am on Monday and the final is scheduled for 6.44am.

You can watch the entire tournament live on FBC TV.
